Many credit this feat to the untamed petro lwa of Vodou. The political situation has remained unstable ever since the Haitian liberation and today this is one of the most impoverished nations in the world. Despite the hardships of daily life, Haitians have a rich cultural heritage and are known throughout the world for their painting techniques.
