Vodou
P.Yoruba, 2006Mix Dahomean, Arawat, and French Catholic religious practices and you get Vodou (sometimes called Voodoo). Lwa, spirit-like forces of nature, and dead ancestors called ghede are the focus of this pragmatic religion. While dancing at religious events, practitioners of Vodou often find themselves possessed by lwa and can perform incredible acts while in this state. Beware! Zombies are a real Haitian phenomenon.
