Zombies, much like vampires and the Golem, terrify us because they defy our binary understanding of reality -- they are the living dead and dead living. This creature, a favorite among Halloween costumes, is the subject of many movies and books. Zombies have even inspired important concepts in the philosophy of mind tradition.
